                     In Roman number system there are 7  symbols .   Those are I   V   X  L   C   D    M   .

  

Values of the symbols are 

       I               1           ONE
       V              5           FIVE
       X            10          TEN
       L            50           FIFTY
       C          100           HUNDRED
       D          500           FIVE HUNDRED
       M       1000           THOUSAND

Rules to write Roman numbers

1. We can't write any symbol for more than three times in  succession.

                                                      1 =        I

                                                      2 =       II

                                                      3 =      III

                                                      4 =     IIII     (Wrong)

                                                      4 =      IV      ( Right)

2 . The symbols    V  ,   L  , D   cannot be written more than once in succession.
